Lauren Kitts’s work seeks to explore the essence of nature and uncertainty.
After graduating with a B. F. A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz, 1985, and obtaining a B. Soc. Sci. from the University of Waikato, 1979, Lauren Kitts successfully established her own artistic business and niche.
Viewers can view and buy her sculptures from there. They are placed amidst beautiful sea views and countryside. The gallery is situated at the top of Williams Rd, just up from the famous Jesters cafe, off Aporo Rd, which leads to Mapua.
Lauren Kitts has gained international recognition as a professional sculptor over the last 30 years . To date, she has attended over 25 sculpture symposia, nationally and internationally, exhibits on a regular basis, and completes commissioned works.
Her inspiration is the natural world, where form, in all its myriad complexity, abounds. She also explores the connection between the material world and the “unseen”. She is also concerned with the nature of uncertainty and man made climate change, which is expressed in many of her new works.
She moved to the Nelson /Tasman area 5 years ago, running a home-based gallery on a 13 Acre property in Tasman.
